M.I.A. (Missing In Advertising) March '04 - October '06

In March 2004 I started Fansy, a Los Angeles-based apparel company. For six months, I spent the early a.m. hours downtown at "the factory" before commuting back to the West Side to work permalance at an agency faced with the possibility of losing its cornerstone client.

After being an integral part in helping retain the business, I decided it was time to put 100% of my efforts into building a brand of my own. So in May 2005, I decided to have a real go at making Fansy a real business.

In the nearly year and a half that followed, I faced some of the biggest challenges of my career - customer angst. Inventory issues. Disillusioned customer service people. Bull-headed, overworked production managers. An uninspired sales force of thirty. Language barriers. Shoe-string budgets. Writing press. Managing the press. Managing more press. And the daunting task of creating and producing advertising for my own company. The pay-off in overcoming these obstacles has been life-changing, both personally and professionally.

In that short period of time, I got the attention of the Head of Consumer Products at the NFL in NY and Jamie McCourt, owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Both meetings are on Fansy's highlights reel.
